We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Investigator Archaeologist to join our team. Have a part in a new opportunity to have your values and work ethic help pave the way! In this role, you will be responsible for managing and conducting archaeological research projects for contracts with federal and state agencies. Your primary focus will be on conducting research on GSA and State contracts, overseeing projects, analyzing findings, and preparing detailed reports.
 
Responsibilities:
 
1. Project Management: Manage and oversee archaeological research projects contracted by federal and state agencies. Coordinate with project stakeholders, including clients, agencies, Tribal Nations, and team members.
 
2. Fieldwork: Conduct archaeological fieldwork, including surveying, excavating, and documenting archaeological sites. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices.
 
3. Analysis: Analyze and interpret archaeological findings, including artifacts, features, and ecofacts. Use a variety of methods, techniques, and technologies to analyze and date materials.
 
4. Report Writing: Prepare detailed and comprehensive reports based on project findings. Present findings in a clear and concise manner, adhering to agency guidelines and project requirements.
 
5. Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines related to archaeological research. Stay up-to-date with current industry standards and best practices.
 
6. Proposal Development: Assist in the development of proposals for new archaeological research projects. Provide expertise and input on project scope, methodology, and budget.
 
7. Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to field crews and other team members. Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
 
8. Client Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, agencies, Tribal Nations, and stakeholders. Communicate effectively and professionally with all parties involved in the project.
 
Requirements:
 
1. Education: A minimum of a Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field. Ph.D. preferred. RPA and SOI qualified. 
 
2. Experience: At least 5 years of experience in conducting archaeological research, with a focus on federal and state agency contracts. Experience in report writing is essential.
 
3. Fieldwork Skills: Proficient in conducting archaeological fieldwork, including surveying, excavation, and artifact analysis. Familiarity with GIS and other mapping technologies is preferred.
 
4. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines related to archaeological research. Familiarity with NEPA, NHPA, Section 106, AB52, SB18, CEQA, and other relevant legislation is essential.
 
5. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prepare and present detailed reports to clients and agencies.
 
6. Project Management: Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and allocate resources effectively.
 
7. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
 
8. Flexibility: Willingness to travel and work in various field conditions, including remote locations and adverse weather conditions.
