Job Description:

Piñon Heritage Solutions, LLC (Piñon) has an immediate opening for a Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager/Task Order Manager. The ideal candidate will be available to work a hybrid schedule from Pinon’s Sacramento office, but other locations will be considered. Much of our work includes fast paced, quick turnaround projects for utilities. Other typical projects include providing cultural resource services for local fire prevention or response teams, vegetation management surveys or monitoring, and energy/gas firms.

 

The successful candidate will collaborate with the company owner and senior specialists to successfully manage projects from their inception to project report publication. This includes setting project timelines and ensuring project safety compliance. Other tasks include supervising junior staff conducting desktop or archival research and writing or reviewing DPR 523-series and technical report drafts.  This is primarily a desktop role, but occasional site visits are expected. Mentorship and training of entry-level staff is an important job component. Clear communication skills and active participation in team efforts, both in person and online, is critical. The position is expected to use independent judgment, meticulous attention to detail and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in CRM project management, task order management, and supervisory experience. Graduate degree a plus.
  • Expertise in both historic and precontact California Archaeology.
  • Meticulous, detail oriented, excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong technical writing and time management skills.
  • Prior positive experience interacting with clients and Native American representatives.
  • Strong knowledge of NEPA, NHPA Section 106, and CEQA.
  • Prior experience as an author of technical reports for federal and state regulatory compliance. Experience as a lead author a plus.
  • Excellent business acumen.

Considered a Plus:

  • Experience with PG&E, ISNetworld, and Salesforce.
  • Ability to be permitted for federal, state, or tribes as a Senior Archaeologist or Field Director.
  • Experience preparing assessments of cultural resource eligibility for inclusion in the NRHP and CRHR, including tribal cultural resources.
  • Ability to prepare research designs applicable to prehistoric and historic resources.
  • Experience guiding clients through CEQA Assembly Bill 52 California Native American consultation.
  • Prior experience preparing environmental document sections for cultural resources or tribal cultural resources (e.g., ISMND, EA, EIR, EIS).
  • Experience writing proposals and preparing invoices.
