CRM TECH is seeking qualified Archaeological Field Technicians for projects in southern California. Candidates with professional archaeological field experience are preferred. Candidates should be familiar with the practical requirements of archaeological survey, site recording, evaluation, and monitoring. This is an as-needed, at-will, position with the opportunity for full-time employment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Archaeological Project Managers, Field Directors, and Crew Chiefs during archaeological tasks that can include surveys, site recording, monitoring, excavations, and laboratory studies.
  • Preparing written information such as daily logs, site forms and report sections.
  • Work closely with other cultural resources staff and Native American representatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors to support project needs and team objectives.

Qualifications: This position might be a great fit for you if you possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field
  • At least one (1) year of professional experience identifying, documenting, and evaluating cultural resources of significance (A Master's degree may be used in lieu of one year of field experience).
  • Must be able to work independently and make on-the-ground decisions during monitoring and other fieldwork
  • Must be able to hike 10-12 miles per day in often difficult terrain and harsh weather conditions while carrying 25 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work extended field rotations (10-12 days) and travel without restrictions, with reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills desired
  • Proficiency in using Trimble and/or Garmin GPS for data collection (basic knowledge).
  • Knowledge of California’s prehistoric and historical cultural resources and cultural history.
  • Field experience specifically in California.
  • Familiarity with CEQA and NHPA regulations.

The base salary range for this temporary position is $24.00 to $27.00 per hour. The final pay offered may vary based on the candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. The base pay that is offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
