The Environmental Services Branch (ESB) is seeking a motivated and experienced candidate for this Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) position with expertise in cultural resources and tribal communication. This position plays a key role in supporting DWR through a wide variety of environmental, historical, and cultural projects. As part of the Division of Integrated Science and Engineering, you’ll join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that acts as the Department’s internal consultant on environmental and cultural compliance. Responsibilities include supporting fieldwork, permitting, and documentation for State Water Project (SWP) operations and maintenance, including Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) license implementation and flood protection activities.
The incumbent provides high-level regulatory support to ensure compliance with federal, State, and local environmental and cultural laws. You’ll work closely with other sections within the Environmental Services Branch, coordinate across divisions, and engage with local, State, and federal agencies, as well as Native American tribes and stakeholders.
